  • Free Meaningful Movies Ballard is a collaboration between Sustainable Ballard and Center for Spiritual Living Ballard.

  • We present issue-focused documentaries followed by a forum for community discussion. Our mission is to educate Ballard neighbors, encouraging dialogue that leads to personal growth and community enrichment.

  • The award-winning documentary filmed inside a maximum security facility examines the human impact of long-term solitary confinement in U.S. prisons. It raises critical questions about punishment, justice, and the lasting consequences of incarceration.

  • Post-film discussion: Nate Stone, Founder of Spir Candle, a Seattle company that exclusively employs previously incarcerated young men.

  • Mission Blue follows oceanographer Sylvia Earle on a global journey to protect the world’s oceans. This documentary is both a scientific call to action and an inspiring reminder that collective effort can still safeguard the blue heart of the planet.

  • Post-film discussion: Casey Mclean from SR3 which operates the SeaLife Rescue Center, a safe environment for recovery where several species of marine animals can be rehabilitated for the first time in our region.

Women of Wisdom Foundation Presents: Deepening and Honoring the Soul: Reclaiming Ways of Matriarchy

  • 1-4pm

  • In the workshop, Dr. Joanne Halverson shares her knowledge and personal experience of matriarchy. She is a northwest native, clinical psychologist, artist, lecturer, writer and retreat leader. 

  • Joanne has over 40 years of experience working with diverse populations and engaging deeply with several Indigenous spiritual leaders. She emphasizes the importance of restoring the torn connections in our personal and cultural lives.
