The Flow of Giving & Receiving

On Sunday, we explored the laws of circulation and reciprocity — the spiritual principles that remind us life moves through giving and receiving. When we hold back, energy stalls. When we share what we have — time, care, resources, creativity, or attention — we keep the flow alive and create space for something greater to move through us.

We see that every week at CSL Ballard. Our music program fills the room with artistry and heart. Volunteers make the morning happen — setting up, greeting, and keeping the rhythm of community moving. Conversations linger after service, connections deepen, and a simple morning becomes something more: energy in motion.

Our practitioner, Ann Forest Burns, reminded us that prosperity is the physical expression of abundance. It isn’t something we earn; it’s something we allow. When we give from openness — through presence, kindness, or service — that abundance moves freely through us.

That’s why, during the offering segment of our five-step service (based on our five-step 'treatment' or 'affirmative prayer'), we sing“We Are So Blessed.” It’s gratitude in motion, a ritual that took shape organically and speaks to the heart of our community. It’s one of my favorite moments each Sunday; it's both an acknowledgement and an invitation to share what you can, whether that's a financial gift, a prayer request, a word of thanks, or a silent blessing. The song reminds us that abundance isn't a promise waiting. It's here, in the way we show up for one another and for this community.

Each week, we practice the flow of giving and receiving in music, service, and connection. And to borrow again from Ann, as we give, so do we richly receive.

Thanks for being here.
