Update from Laura McLeod, Core Council President - July 30, 2025

I’m continually amazed — and often humbled — by the in-house talent within our community. In recent weeks, Revs. Gary and Pam Ninneman each offered rich, relevant talks that brought fresh perspective to our teaching and opened the door to deeper reflection. From heart-brain coherence to consciously reshaping our inner narrative, their messages were insightful, grounded, and applicable in everyday life.

And the music? Still a highlight — thanks to Amanda Byrd’s leadership and a rotating cast of skilled musical artists who bring joy, heart, and professionalism to every Sunday.

On Saturday, the improv trio Kit, Cat & Caboodle gave us plenty to laugh about while welcoming new faces into our spiritual home. A gracious thanks to Amanda and Guy Nelson for creating such a joyful evening.

I also heard great things from those who enjoyed Shakespeare in the Park on Friday — I love the friendships, new and old, that connect us beyond Sundays. (Sad to miss that one!)

And Sunday’s annual picnic brought delicious food and renewed connections. A huge shout out to Mark Ruark for once again stepping up as grillmaster — and for all the prep and planning behind the scenes.

If you’re looking for Council updates or ways to get involved, check out the refreshed bulletin boards in the downstairs social hall — thanks to our treasurer and Jill-of-all-trades, Pam Kepford.

This Sunday, I’m excited to experience more Joy with Cindy Clay. I hope you’ll stay for her playshop: Reflect, Connect, and Embody Joy in Everyday Life — because who doesn’t need more play?

The Core Council continues to keep things moving — laying the groundwork for what’s next and helping build a vibrant, resilient future. There are so many ways to show up, contribute, and connect. If something’s calling to you, we’d love to hear it.
