This week, Rev. Michael invited us to look at how we define prosperity, and to consider whether we might be looking for it in all the wrong places. It’s easy to equate prosperity with money, possessions, or comfort. But when we pause and look around, abundance is everywhere.
Ernest Holmes taught that prosperity is the natural expression of divine substance — the way Spirit shows up in form when we recognize and claim it. Prosperity begins in consciousness, not circumstance. It’s the inner knowing that we live in an abundant universe and that good flows through us as we open to receive it. Aligning what we feel, think, and intuit creates coherence, which helps us act with clarity to bring abundance into being.
Rev. Michael shared many stories from his own life that reminded us how prosperity takes shape when we trust that truth — when we act on what we know and allow Spirit to meet us there. It’s not about waiting for life to deliver something new; it’s about realizing that life is always saying yes, and our work is to say yes back.
I see that same principle alive in our community, in the conversations after service, in the music that lifts our spirits (did you love Trueman's energy as much as I did?), and in the quiet, behind-the-scenes care that holds everything together. The beauty that Brenda Campbell (welcome back!) brings to our space, the volunteers who plan, and clean, and greet, the creativity that infuses our gatherings. These are all expressions of prosperity made visible.
As a community, we’re practicing this same truth together: holding a vision of abundance and stepping into it, one action at a time. Prosperity doesn’t arrive all at once; it unfolds through us, through what we believe, our service, and our shared intention.
And lately, we’ve seen that unfold in beautiful ways — familiar faces returning, new ones showing up, energy and ideas flowing in. Every sign of renewal reminds us that connection is never lost; it’s simply waiting to be welcomed again. And it’s hope — the quiet trust that good is always possible — that guides us as we practice and share this abundance.
Abundance isn’t somewhere out there. It’s right here, in how we show up, how we give, how we live and practice our principles.
And, we're now on YouTube! You can watch Rev. Michael's talk, and subscribe to our channel. That's prosperity in action.
