Let Your Light Shine

Sunday’s service was a powerful reminder that wisdom isn’t something we have to search for. It already shines within each of us. Rev. Liz encouraged us to let our inner light shine even brighter because the world really needs it now.
The music echoed that in two songs that are particularly meaningful to me — Jesse Colin Young’s Light Shine, which invites us to lean into hope and resilience, to be fully present and authentic, letting our light guide us and others through dark moments; and Joni Mitchell’s Both Sides Now, which reminds us that when things don’t always add up, we can hold the paradox and sit with the both/and, gaining perspective and humility along the way.
Together, they point to complementary truths: life is complicated, things don’t always add up, but showing up with presence and light is what makes it meaningful.
This place carries our imprint. We’re all part of it, whether we just arrived or were part of the OG group of founders. New faces find their way to us nearly every week, and I hope we all lean into connection, introduce ourselves, and continue to weave the dynamic fabric that makes up this community. What we give to each other shapes who we are, together, and the law of reciprocity reminds us that what we put in always comes back multiplied, creating a beautiful tapestry.
Every week, we're blessed with people whose dedication shines so clearly. This week, I'm beyond grateful for Guy Nelson, who pours boundless energy into our music and events (including the Jingle Jam!), and Bonnie Pasek, our marketing maven, who consistently goes above and beyond, finding ways to take everything we do to the next level. Their creativity, commitment, and generosity are truly a gift.
Looking ahead:
Our 3rd quarter Community Meeting is this Sunday. We'd welcome your questions or comments in advance, if possible. Send them to corecouncil@cslballard.org to make sure we can address them fully.
Planning for Jingle Jam III is underway! If you’d like to help or support in whatever way you feel called to, let us know.
And anytime you have something on your mind or heart and want to connect with your Council or Practitioners, reach out — we’d love to hear from you.
Together, we continually co-create a vibrant, joyful, and abundant spiritual home that's ever-evolving. Let’s keep shining our light.
